PS 87 Backpack News: October 15, 2019

Picture Day(s) – October 17 & 18

Photo Day is Thursday, October 17 for 1st, 3rd and 5th grades and Friday, October 18 for Prek, K, 2nd and 4th grades. 5th grade parents, please try to avoid middle school tours on photo day.

A makeup date will be scheduled during December. There will be no forms to fill out or money to send in advance. Woo hoo! All ordering will be done online after proofs are sent home approximately 3 weeks after photo day.

Harvest Fest is coming!

PS 87’s SPOOKTACULAR Harvest Fest will be held at the school on Saturday October 26, from 2-6 p.m.

Thank you to all the wonderful parents who have already committed their time to making this event happen!  And if you haven’t had a chance to sign up yet, we still need volunteers for these popular booths and more:

Fright Academy Haunted House – ADULT actors and backstage staff experience the heart of the event

Freaky Face Painting and Ghastly Glitter Tattoo – No experience necessary and lots of paintbrush fun, plus you get your own room

Banshee Bake Sale – Calling our expert bakers, please come sign up

Cookie Decorating – It might be a little messy, but worth every sprinkle filled grin

Turkey Pine Cones – Help add a little gobble to your Thanksgiving table

Carnival Games – Be a good sport and donate time at the gym

General Fill – You are the National Guard of Harvest Fest

Class Activities – Every class has a table with a fun activity

Log into A to Z Connect, go to the menu on the top left, and choose Event Sign-Up.

We encourage kids to get the ALL ACCESS Wristband to enjoy all of the activities!

Donate Halloween Costumes!

A reminder to help make Halloween special for all by donating new or gently used kids’ Halloween costumes. Please drop them off in the box in the lobby to the left of the auditorium doors.

Coat and Book Drive for PS 145

Please help us help our friends at PS 145 by donating winter jackets and books through October 18.

Once again, the Dual Language Committee is collecting winter coats for students in our neighborhood who are in need. If you have jackets your children have grown out of, or if you’d like to donate new jackets, please drop them off in the PS 87 lobby.

In addition, the PS 145 PA is creating a book exchange shelf in their school lobby to provide their students with more exposure to books. They’re looking for high interest books (think popular series like: Elephant and Piggie, Magic Treehouse, Fairy Magic, Captain Underpants, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Pinkalicious, Star Wars, etc.).

We are extremely grateful for any coats or books that you are able to donate. We thank the PS 87 community in advance for your amazing support and generosity. Any questions? Email
