Harvest Fest is coming!
PS 87’s SPOOKTACULAR Harvest Fest is just around the corner. On Saturday, October 26, from 2-6 p.m, the school will be morphed into a frightfully fun extravaganza!
If you haven’t had a chance to sign up yet, we still need volunteers for these popular booths and more:

- Freaky Face Painting and Ghastly Glitter Tattoo – No experience necessary and lots of paintbrush fun, plus you get your own room
- Banshee Bake Sale – Calling our expert bakers, please come sign up
- Cookie Decorating – It might be a little messy, but worth every sprinkle filled grin
- Turkey Pine Cones – Help add a little gobble to your Thanksgiving table
- Carnival Games – Be a good sport and donate time at the gym
- General Fill – You are the National Guard of Harvest Fest
- Class Activities – Every class has a table with a fun activity
Log into A to Z Connect, go to the menu on the top left, and choose Event Sign-Up.
We encourage kids to get the ALL ACCESS Wristband to enjoy all of the activities!
Service Provider Meeting
There will be a service provider meeting Friday, October 25, from 8:30 – 9:15 a.m. in the auditorium. If your child has an IEP, this is an excellent opportunity to meet the individuals who provide services such as SETSS, OT/PT, Speech and Language as well as the school psychologist, counselor, social worker and our IEP coordinator.

Middle School Panel
Hey 5th graders! Come join PS 87 alumni to give you the real story on all the middle schools you are considering! It will be held Monday, October 28, 6:30-8:30 p.m, in the auditorium.. Several 6th-8th graders will be on hand to answer questions from “are the bathrooms disgusting?” to “do you have lockers?” to “how much homework do you have each night?” Students will give you the real answers that the grown-ups on the tours simply don’t know! It is a great way to see how each school differs. Middle school parents will also be in attendance to answer your parents’ questions. Oh, and we will feed you! Rising middle schoolers need pizza!
Free Spanish Classes for All PS 87 Parents
Join us Monday, October 28 for free Spanish lessons in the PS 87 library from 8 – 8:45 am. Open to all PS 87 Parents! Beginner, intermediate and advanced levels are offered and all levels are welcome! The next class is Monday, November 4 – same time and same place. Bienvenidos a todos! Hope to see you there!
Tell BPN
Last Week’s Question: What is the weirdest breakfast that your kid(s) has ever requested before school?
The best response:
“Miso soup.” — current second grader at PS 87 and a lover of Japanese food.
Did you know that miso soup, while not a traditional American breakfast food, is commonly eaten in Japan for breakfast? It is packed with protein and live active cultures. A DIY version of miso soup is super easy to create – Just mix in some miso paste into hot water and voila!
Parents’ Nights Out in November!
Mark your calendars and come hang out with your fellow PS 87 parents.

Night of Rock n’ Roll!
Parents and Friends from District 3 schools are bringing the noise to raise money for the kids in South Bronx! Join us for a night of Rock n’ Roll to support Readin’, Writin’ and ‘Rithmatic for kids in District 7 schools.
Over the past 4 years, School2School, a project started by PS87 parents, has raised over $20K to improve the lives of kids in NYC public schools. On Saturday, November 9 musicians from around School District 3 will play all your favorite rock songs in our favorite local venue – the Triad on 72nd St. There are 15 current and 4 alumni PS 87 parents performing this year and we’d love to have the 87 community come out in support! Money raised through ticket sales is donated to teachers via DonorsChoose.
It’ll be a super fun night for a super fun cause!
