The Auction Team
The NYC Department of Education is posting the latest information on the coronavirus here:
Please check back often for updates on school policies and protocols, as well as tips on staying healthy.
Building Project Committee
The Building Project Committee has begun to hold bi-weekly meetings with our Representative at the SCA. At this time, we have not been given an official start date to the project. We hope to have an update on the start date after our next meeting on March 18.
We have learned that the process will begin with the installation of a boiler on West 77th street. Scaffolding will be going up shortly after the boiler is in place. The scaffolding will take approximately 8 weeks to erect.
In an effort to be as transparent as possible with communications, and to make the information easily accessible to the PS 87 community, we have created a page on the school website, to which we will post new information and updates about the project.
Here is the link: https://site.ps87.info/construction-updates/
We will provide updates as we receive them, via BPN and the website.

Free Spanish Classes!
The Dual Language Committee is still conducting Free Spanish for All, monthly at 8 – 8:45 a.m. in the Library. All PS 87 parents are welcome to take the classes. The next class will be held on April 6. Learn some key phrases for upcoming trips! Or just practice your conversational skills with other parents in the school.
Parent Association – Get Involved!
Volunteering is a big part of PS 87’s culture, and we invite you to get involved in whatever way you can. Our thoughtful, diverse, and active parent body is a great source of school pride, and we welcome any amount of time or talent you have to offer. No contribution is too small! If you are interested, have questions or would like more information, click on the Parents Association link on the the PS 87 website or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will be holding elections for several key board positions including Co-Presidents, Family Giving and Auction Co-Chairs at the General PA Meeting on April 2. Please consider running!
Afterschool Committee Meeting
The next Afterschool Committee Meeting will be held on Friday, March 13 at 8:00 a.m., in the PS 87 Library.
If you have any ideas, questions, or thoughts to share about 87Afterschool, please come to the monthly Afterschool Committee meeting. It takes place in the library immediately before each month’s General PA meeting. 87Afterschool’s executive director, Wilson Cano, will be present at each meeting to hear your thoughts and answer questions. Whether your child already attends Afterschool or you’re considering signing your child up to participate next fall, this is a great opportunity to learn more about 87Afterschool. Also, stay tuned for an 87Afterschool Parent Survey coming later this month! If you can’t attend the meeting, but want to get answers to any afterschool questions, please reach out to Wilson at email@example.com and/or Stacy Cousino, the PA’s Afterschool rep, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
