From Your PA Presidents
Dear PS 87 Families,
Although many things have surprised us during the past two years, never in our wildest dreams would we have predicted how this year turned out! In spite of the many challenges facing our community, we were overwhelmed with the generosity many of you showed when we asked for help. From the online auction to honoring our parents working on the front lines, you stepped up when we needed you and for that we will always be grateful. Now we have to ask for your help again. It is our final year as your PA Co-Presidents. Because of the COVID-19 crisis we are not able to hold an election to fill any open board positions until September. If you are interested in running for office please reach out to us at email@example.com. We’d be happy to answer any of your questions. The one thing we know for sure is that the administration is going to need PA support more than ever. Please consider stepping up and taking a leadership role during this important time.

Everybody Reads Week
We are so thrilled to continue our very excellent Everybody Reads Week tradition virtually! Here is a video that explains the activities for the week.
Each day is a special celebration!
Monday – Spot the Character! Six different characters will be placed in your Google classrooms (your classroom page and your cluster pages). See if you find them all! Additional information on Spot the Character can be found here:
Tuesday – Cap/Hat Day – Wear your most creative cap or hat!
Wednesday – Book Cover Reveal – Your book cover art will be shared on your STEAM page or classroom page!
Thursday – Celebrate the day off with…Pajama Day! Parents can participate, too! Hooray!
Friday – It’s Dress Up as Your Favorite Book Character Day! It doesn’t matter if the character is fictional or non-fictional, as long as it’s your favorite!
Please share your days with us! Email firstname.lastname@example.org to share your funny hats, wonderful book characters, book covers and pajama outfits!
Your classroom teachers will post Zoom sessions with authors on their Google classroom pages. You can attend talks with authors or hear them read.
If you have any questions about Everybody Reads Week, please email Dawnica and the library committee at email@example.com or Kazue at firstname.lastname@example.org

Virtual Book Fair
Our annual Spring Book Fair is finally here! This year it’s a VIRTUAL Book Fair! We will have access to the entire Scholastic library, so this is the perfect way to restock your bookshelves without leaving the comfort of your couch.
The fair will run continuously until September 4, 2020, so you can regularly refresh your bookshelves all summer long!
All book-only orders of at least $25 will ship free. PRO-TIP: If you are going to buy anything that is NOT a book, do it in a separate order as only book-only orders will ship free.
25% of your purchase will be donated back to the school so you can shop knowing that you are helping the school as well as getting your little ones excited about reading.
Attached is a great list of recommended reading by grade level created by our wonderful teachers. You can find all of these books at the Virtual Book Fair!
