From the Acting PA Presidents

Dear Families,

Now that we are officially back to school, it is a great time to rekindle our “One Family Under the Sun” community spirit. We are planning a number of events during the upcoming months. First up – Welcome Wednesdays!

We’d like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new families! If you are new to the school, please drop in via Zoom (details to follow) on Wednesday, October 7 starting at 7 p.m. to meet other parents and learn more about our community. We hope to see you there, but don’t worry if you can’t make it, we will have additional welcome events during the next few weeks.  If you have any questions, email us at

Thank you,

Angie Arlia and Jen Hoke

What if you have COVID Symptoms?

Below is the protocol for when someone can return to school if they are exhibiting COVID symptoms.

If the student has had no known contact with a positive case, the student can only return to school when all the following are met:
The student resents a negative COVID-19 test result

presents clearance from a healthcare provider evaluation AND
has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication.

If DOHMH or NYC Test + Trace Corps determine the student is considered a close contact of a positive case, the student can only return to school when all the following are met:
The student has completed a 14-day quarantine regardless of symptoms or test results since their last exposure to that case AND
presents a negative COVID-19 test result after the 14-day quarantine

presents clearance from a healthcare provider evaluation AND
the student has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication.

If the student does not get tested, then the student cannot return to school until:
10 days have passed since the first symptom

the student has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication.

Construction Update

The boiler permits from the Department of Transportation were approved and the sidewalk bridge for the temporary bridge has been installed.

The temporary boiler was delivered on Thursday, October 1. We hoped to have this completed before the start of school but due to delays with the permits this was not possible.

On Friday, October 2, concrete barriers were delivered and installed to protect the temporary boiler. A chain link fence to surround the temporary boiler was also delivered.  This will act as a staging area for the boiler installation.

Once the boiler is in place, there won’t be further progress until the project is resumed.

Updates will continue to be posted here
